The Minister responsible for Government communications and MP of Abura Asebu-Kwamankese Constituency, Ferlix Kwakye Ofosu has reveal the reason for the scale back of Ghana’s Independence Day celebration.
Speaking on Joy news program, News file, the minister stated that prior to the 68th Independence Day celebration, President Mahama raised concern on the expensive and luxurious display during our independence anniversary, looking at the cost and the economic challenges we are facing as a country.
He also continued that after reviewing the cost of holding the anniversary at the independence square which would have cost almost Ghs 20m , the President settled on the forecourt of the presidency.
Another thing the minister stated is the stress that officers and school children go through during the celebration.
