Teachers told to stay in classrooms, follow official complaint channels – GES.

The Ghana Education Service has warned teachers particularly the newly employed staff to desist from leaving their duty post to protest at the national headquarters or engage the media during contact hours.

In a statement signed and issued by Acting Deputy Director-General for Quality and Access, Munawaru Issahaque, on March 9, 2026, it stated that any teacher with concerns should address them through the proper administrative hierarchy, beginning with the Head of School and, where necessary, the District and Regional Directorates.

It also added that, any teacher discovered to be away from duty or speaking to the media during school hours could attract sanctions.

Ges further directed all regional directors to ensure strict compliance of its directive, record any teacher absenteeism and report it to management.

Despite the warning, GES assured teachers that their issues would be resolved through the appropriate administrative channels.
