Two suspects have been apprehended by the police over alledged involvement in a 2025 robbery at a jewellery shop near Nyaho Clinic in Dzorwulu, Accra.
This follows a robbery incident on September 11, 2025, in which two armed men attacked a shop, assaulted an attendant, broke the glass door and made away with assorted jewellery from the shop.
In a statement, the police PRO, chief inspector Briggitte Banawo said that after several months of intelligence gathering, a team from criminal investigation department, arrested the suspects on February 24, 2026, at Anyaa in the Greater Accra region.
According to the police, the suspects are Abubakar Mahmoud, and Mahmoud Abdul Aziz also known as Justin Martin.
The police retrieved items believed to have been used in the robbery, including hammer, a black face mask, toy pistol, gold detector, gold weighing scale, diamond detector, hand gloves, helmet, and two motorbikes.
However, the suspects have confessed to the offence and named one Eddy of Oyarifa, as a receiver of the stolen items, with efforts ongoing to locate and arrest him.
The Police said that both suspects are in police custody and will be put before court tomorrow Thursday, March 26, 2026.
