Gov’t publishes institutions complying with PFM standards.

The Ministry of Finance has released names of public institutions who adheres to the Public Financial Management act, a move aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability and restoring hope in the economy.

This follows government announcement in the 2025 budget statement to publish an objective, evidence base assessment of how public institutions comply with PFM Act, 2016 (Act 921), its Regulations and associated laws.

A table released by the ministry indicates that public institutions such as Environmental Protection Agency, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Finance, the Ghana AIDS Commission and Petroleum Hub Development Corporation are among those that highly comply Act.

However, other state institutions, including the national communication authority, NADMO, Ghana National Fire Service, Ministry of Education-HQ, National Media Commission among other falls among the least compliant with the Public Financial Management Act.

According the ministry, the move is intended to deepen transparency and accountability and further encourage continuous improvement in the management and use of public resources among state institutions.

The ministry added that it will take decisive action to address persistent non-compliance, noting its readiness to engage low-performing institutions and support them in identifying gaps in their PFM compliance systems.
