The Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, together with the leadership of the Parliament of Ghana, is set to officially launch the third edition of the Democracy Cup at a special ceremony in Accra.
In a statement, the Director of Media Relations, David Sebastian Damoah said that the launch is scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Justice TF Annan Auditorium within the Parliament House.
According to the statement, the event is designed to strengthen democratic values through sports, has steadily evolved into a unique platform that blend football, government, and national identity.
It also added that in the spirit of harnessing the unifying power of the game, the initiative promotes civil responsible, peaceful coexistence, and national cohesion.
However, it further said that the event is anticipated to bring together wide range of stakeholders, including government officials, members of parliament, representatives from the sporting fraternity, corporate partners and sponsors as well as members from the diplomatic Corps.
“Beyond the democratic front, the Democracy cup continues to expand its international footprint, supported by growing partnership aimed at elevating Ghana’s global sporting profile”, it stated.
The statement said organizers will unveil further details, including participating clubs, fixtures, and prize packages, during the launch, while encouraging invited guests to confirm their attendance.
