Government through the office of the Vice President is set to distribute free sanitary pads to vulnerable institution across the country to improve menstrual health.
Speaking at a distribution event, the Greater Accra regional minister, Linda Ocloo said that the office of the vice president in partnership with Access bank and Softe care will disperse over one million sanitary pads to vulnerable groups nationwide.
She continued that the initiative aims at reducing period poverty and strengthen support for special schools, female correctional facilities, and psychiatric hospital.
Government in 2025, distributed over six million sanitary pads to girls in basic schools and secondary schools while Ghs294.4 million has been budgeted this year to continue the program.
