Two armored vehicles carrying men from the National Police Operation has been reinforced in Nkwanta, Oti Region, following a violent attack that heightened tension, in order to restore calm and prevent further escalation.
This follows reported attack by unknown men, leading to the killing of three individuals linked to the ongoing local conflict in the Municipality.
In a statement, the Supt of Police, John Nchor, said that five identified bodies, three males, and two females, have been recovered from two different locations in the Nkwanta South Municipality by a joint team comprising the Police, Military, BNI, the Defense Intelligence and GNFS personnel.
According to the statement, investigation have commenced to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and to identify and make wrongdoers answer for their actions.
It also urged the people of Nkwanta and its environs to remain calm and corporate with the security agencies by providing relevant information that may assist with ongoing investigation.
The police further advice the public to refrain from spreading misinformation and acts that have the potential to flame up tension.
